On October 18, the president Thomas Kane of Calumet, the branch campus of Purdue University in America, his wife and the vice-chairman of Graduate School visited NWPU. The president of NWPU Jiang Chengyu met them in the conference room of International Cooperation Department. Li Huaxing, the head and Sun Yu, the vice head from International Cooperation Department also attended this meeting.
The president of NWPU Jiang Chengyu showed welcome to the visitors. After introducing the developing situation about our university in recent years, he said that NWPU is the important education and research institution. It is of the unique and special advantages in talents cultivation and technical research. He also hoped that there would be more and more communication and cooperation between two sides in that case the friendly relationship between universities would be promoted. This is the first visit to NWPU for the president Thomas Kane. The president Thomas Kane expressed that it was an honorable pleasure to visit our university. He also made a simple introduction about the education and research situation in his university.
It is reported that since 2010 both universities has already established the cooperative relationship and signed the treaty of ETIE visiting program and 2+2 double degrees for undergraduates. This meeting will promote the cooperation between NWPU and Calumet, the branch campus of Purdue University in different fields and will push our university’s internationalization process further.
